More Information about Wellington

At one of the northernmost points of Interstate 25 sits a small statutory town heralding itself as "The Northern Gateway". This is as apt a description as any for Wellington, a small town with a big community spirit. Content to be a bedroom community to its large neighbor Fort Collins, Wellington also sits close to Cheyenne, Wyoming and continues the tradition begun in the 1800s of being a favored stopover point for travelers between the two.

Determined stargazers also claim it as a favorite destination, along with those accessing the Roosevelt National Forest. Hometown of Supreme Court Justice Byron White, the town gained further notoriety when the remains of a woolly mammoth were discovered in 2000.

Celebrating the birth of our nation is a community wide endeavor in Wellington. The Fourth of July festivities begin at a pancake breakfast, moving on to live music and an enthusiastic, patriotic parade, and culminating in a spectacular fireworks display in the evening.
